Georgia: Growing market for vertical farm setups in hospitality and retail industry

"There is absolutely a great potential market out here for the Spots given Space Farms is the first to introduce such a product nationally and because of that people are taking notice. More and more are seeing the benefits of fresh and sustainable produce, and we're here to deliver just that. We're always learning and trying to improve, so we can meet this growing need and offer the freshest crops around," says Tusya Garibashvili, Founder and CEO of Space Farms.

Spots by Space Farms is the brainchild of Tusya and is all about bringing new and green farming methods to Georgia. She adds, "Our project is at the heart of this goal. We've been the first to push forward with vertical farming here, and we've learned a lot from our Space Farms experience, the first vertical farm in the capital. With this project, we're aiming to provide fresh crops all year, teach people about our methods, and show a better way to farm."

Tbilisi hotel project
"We're thrilled to announce our latest sustainable addition in our Sky Bar 'Weather Report,' a vertical farming setup by Spots Modular Farming. From now on, we will be using our own herbs in different dishes at Restaurant Dumas, as well as in cocktails at Weather Report," the Pullman Tbilisi Axis Towers team shared, a luxury hotel based in Tbilisi.

Hotel Pullman is a brand within the ACCOR group, a French multinational hospitality company that owns, manages, and franchises hotels, resorts, and vacation properties. At Pullman Tbilisi Axis Towers they adopted a 100% single-use, plastic-free hotel and additionally started a food waste program.

The Spots cater to a wide range of sectors. Retail outlets can benefit from offering fresher produce. Hotels, especially ones that align with sustainability like the Pullman from the Accor group, can elevate their culinary experience. Moreover, commercial entities see the scalability and potential in the agtech's model. "Importantly, we offer a full-service approach, handling everything from maintenance to seedling delivery, tailored to our clients' preferences."

Expanding beyond Georgia
Beyond just introducing the Spots, the Space Farms team keeps on evolving. Having secured funds from GITA and the USAID agriculture program, the agtech is able to expand and innovate further. "We're optimistic about taking the Spots beyond Georgia, making our modular farming solutions a staple in various countries."

Currently, Space Farms has partnerships lined up with notable names like Accor Group “Pullman Tbilisi”, Ska Juice chains, Asian restaurant Pepper Boy, Café Lolita, and more. "We are always open to collaborations and are excited about the potential to make a significant positive impact globally."
