US: CEA Summit kicks off in Virginia

CEA Summit East, co-hosted by Indoor Ag-Con and The Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Innovation Center, a partnership between the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences at Virginia Tech, the Virginia Seafood Agricultural Research and Extension Center, and the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) –kicked off day one on September 19, 2023.

The day-and-a-half conference is where industry and academia intersect to share research and business strategies and build partnerships to drive future growth for the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) sector and its stakeholders. Day one of the summit brought together industry speakers and subject matter experts, breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and tabletop exhibits from leading industry suppliers showcasing CEA innovations.

Day Two, September 20, will start with a keynote address from AeroFarms President & CFO Guy Blanchard, who will share how AeroFarms is emerging stronger in the months following the Chapter 11 filing (Including this week’s announcement of the successful completion of its restructuring process). He will also provide updates on AeroFarms’ newest farm in Danville, Virginia, which continues to scale according to plan.

Attendees will have the chance to enjoy more sessions, as well as guided tours of the CEA Innovation Center during the day.
