UK: Fischer Farms secures Red Tractor and Global GAP accreditations

\Vertical farming pioneers, Fischer Farms, have reached a major milestone as they secure the coveted Red Tractor and Global GAP accreditations, enabling the team to sell their delicious fresh produce to both domestic and international markets. To bolster these new achievements, Fischer Farms has now met all the criteria to become an approved SEDEX member.

Tristan Fischer, Founder, and CEO of Fischer Farms shared, “Securing Red Tractor and Global GAP are the final pieces in the jigsaw, opening up a wealth of opportunities with retailers and new markets. As we strive to build a more resilient food supply chain in the UK, these accreditations demonstrate our commitment to safe, traceable, and sustainable British food production.”

With the farm now fully operational, the two certifications give retailers and food service operators further confidence that Fischer Farms’ produce has been cultivated to meet the highest standards of food safety, traceability, and sustainability.

Following stringent site visits recently, both Red Tractor and Global GAP have given Fischer Farms the seal of approval on their vertically farmed herbs and short leafy greens.

Fischer Farms is now distributing its first harvest of watercress, rocket, and basil to customers, including Fresh Direct. These accreditations will accelerate advanced discussions with retailers, bringing Fischer Farms one step closer to sharing their sustainably-produced crops with consumers across the country.

Red Tractor is a food assurance scheme that underpins the high standards of British Food and Drink. It forms the basis of buying and sourcing specifications for major supermarkets, household brands, and restaurant chains.

Global GAP is a trademark and set of standards for good agricultural practices and demonstrates on-farm food safety and sustainability. It is a seal of excellence for the entire production process, from food hygiene and safety to water efficiency, waste management, and worker welfare.
