US (NJ): Geogreens receives $75,000 bond offering to expand operations

"We are fundraising to expand our operations infrastructure, and as a result, our impact on the community and food desserts throughout the state and, later, the region," Desmond Hayes, founder, and CEO of Geogreens, says.

Geogreens, a vertical farming business based in Hamilton, NJ, has received a $75,000 bond offering by SMBX. SMBX is a financial provider that aids small businesses in raising capital by issuing small business bonds via their SMBX marketplace.

Founded in 2015 by Desmond Hayes, Geogreens is an MBE-owned farm that grows micro-greens, leafy greens, and herbs. They're issuing Bonds for expansion in infrastructure and creating additional educational resources. The company's future plans include adding fruiting crops.

"It's still pretty new, but as one of the very few black-owned indoor hydroponic farms nationally, I simply want Geogreens to continue on its path of supplying food insecure communities and expand our brand of farming, community engagement, and collaboration inside of the CEA field," Desmond shares.

With the existing farm of approximately 185m2 (2000 sq. ft.) Geogreans was able to touch the community not only through providing cleaner, superior produce but also through the team's engagement with districts, health and wellness industries, and its broadening educational resources.

"I have a few crops in mind to add later on, but I'll let my clients help in determining which products work for our communities and partnerships."
