The project previously received a €50,000 grant for a feasibility study. The results from this study were so positive that applicant Maatschap H. and M. Janse, together with partners, wants to shape the project further. To this end, they will receive €200,000 in funding. The partners are Organicz, Logiqs, Saman Group, Sustainable Indoor Farming, and HZ University of Applied Sciences.
The project looks at developing a recipe for the right growing conditions for saline vegetables on an indoor farm. These growing conditions take into account the needs of the crop, but also the energy consumption and, as a derivative, the technical system design.
This is both with regard to logistics and energy-saving measures. The goal that the participants are working towards and to which this project will contribute a step can be described as: "Being able to grow saline vegetables year-round in an ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable and responsible manner in a zero-in-meter indoor cultivation facility."
