Urban Farming in Palestinian Refugee Camps

By Anera
March 10, 2022

With the support of UNRWA and Spain’s Bizkaia regional government, Anera is providing expert agricultural trainings to women in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon as part of our gender-based violence prevention efforts through community-based initiatives.

Eight women in Rashidieh Palestinian Refugee Camp are now tending their own home gardens. Soon they will be teaching 100 more families in the camp these gardening skills. We provided gardening tools to each of the participants so that they have the materials they need to become urban farmers. This kind of urban gardening helps families weather the widespread hunger and food insecurity now common in Lebanon with fresh and healthy produce.
