Excerpt:

This is the moment 1,400 sheep were herded through a tiny town in the Australian state of Victoria.

Drone footage captured the woolly wave of sheep washing over the town of Bealiba, a sleepy settlement of just 206 people, according to Australia’s 2016 census.

The video, posted to Twitter by sheep farmer Ben Weir on February 13, shows the giant herd being guided by five dogs, closely followed by Weir’s partner Leah, who is riding on horseback.

Weir described how he and Leah had guided ‘a mob of 1,400 ewes 20km’ (12 miles), passing through Bealiba along the way.

He said that the herding dogs are Australian kelpies, called Topsy, Fessor, Poppie, Moss, and Olive.

In total, the operation took five hours – with the herd moving at a modest pace of 2.4 miles per hour.
