“Our mission as University of California Master Gardener volunteers is to extend research-based sustainable gardening and composting information to the public through various educational outreach methods,” the University of California Master Gardeners of Placer County website states. “We strive to present accurate, impartial information to local gardeners so they have the knowledge to make informed gardening decisions in regard to plant choices, soil fertility, pest management, irrigation practices, and more.”

The Master Gardeners and Loomis Library have a long-standing partnership, including many public workshops and the Seed Library.

“The community has always responded well to these partnerships, with many of the workshops being among our best attended,” Comstock said in the Oct. 6 Library Staff report.

“We believe that using the library grounds for a space for community gardens would be mutually beneficial to the UC Master Gardeners, the library and the community as a whole,” said Comstock.

Because the library is located close to I-80 and downtown Loomis, Comstock said the location is ideal for garden enthusiasts, as well as other individuals interested in gardening.
