After the MOA signing, Dar initially turned over to Zamora 10,190 packets of various seeds for tomato, eggplant, mustard, pechay and patola, two trays of seedlings and a sack of compost.

The DA and the San Juan City will schedule capacity trainings for San Juaneños in the coming weeks and provide them with starter kits so they can develop gardens in their residences.

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office of San Juan City will facilitate the hands-on training of the beneficiaries and the distribution of the seedlings. They will also oversee the project to make sure it is sustained.

“On behalf of the City of San Juan, I would like to thank Secretary Dar and the Department of Agriculture for this very worthwhile initiative. This will go a long way in helping our constituents not just in food security but also in making their lives easier as we join hands in fighting this pandemic,” the mayor said.

He added, “I would like to assure Secretary Dar and the DA that the City of San Juan will make sure we continue to get good yield out of the seeds we have planted through this project, well beyond the pandemic.”
