The vision is clear and compelling. In bustling metropolitan areas like Caracas, with its diverse parishes including 23 de Enero, Antímano, Coche, and Chacao, concrete jungles will soon embrace green patches of productivity. The essence of urban agriculture is to transform these areas into zones of agricultural abundance. The initiative aims at enhancing food security, reducing the carbon footprint, and fostering a sense of community among urban dwellers. The ministry’s focus on identifying and developing these urban spaces is a testament to their commitment to sustainable urban development.

At the core of this transformation are the women and youth of Venezuela. Minister Carrillo has emphasized the importance of supporting women in agriculture, recognizing their pivotal role in both the economy and their families. Through the biocredit system, technical and financial assistance will be provided, empowering women to lead the charge in urban farming. Furthermore, the initiative seeks to relaunch over 22,000 agro-urban centers, creating opportunities for learning and growth. School gardens in 12 schools nationwide are also part of the plan, aiming to educate and involve the younger generation in sustainable practices.
