Spring has arrived-and with it, new beginnings! Amrit seizes the opportunity to talk to her Babaji about his garden. But what starts as a simple conversation between a granddaughter and grandfather becomes a deeper exchange about Babaji’s immigration to Canada from India.

In each of his answers, Babaji teaches Amrit about their shared heritage. As Amrit learns about her Indian roots, she also learns that the differences between Canadian and Indian cultures are underscored by important commonalities.

My Babaji’s Garden is a heartfelt ode to our ability to lay down new roots and find a sense of belonging. For Babaji, gardening is a way to bring a bit of himself and his culture to his new home in Canada. He teaches Amrit that with love and care, we can learn to tend to our dreams and watch them grow.
