AUS: New partnership to supply MicroGel to commercial microgreens market

Nanollose Limited has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Greenspace ESG Pty Ltd for the exclusive evaluation and supply of MicroGelâ„¢ for the commercial microgreens market in Australia.

MicroGel has been developed as a soilless growth media specifically for the commercial microgreen market using Nanollose's new Biollose rehydratable microbial cellulose technology.

Biollose is expected to be a key ingredient in a range of soilless growing substrates developed for the commercial agriculture and horticulture markets. The first of these products is MicroGel, which has resulted from an extensive period of development at Nanollose, specifically for the commercial microgreen sector. More recently, Nanollose supplied Greenspace with small samples of MicroGel where initial trials for both dispensing the medium and microgreen production were highly encouraging – in turn providing a catalyst to proceed to an MOU with Greenspace.

Nanollose's Executive Chairman, Dr. Wayne Best, said: "We are delighted with the opportunity to work with a leading commercial microgreen grower. The trials with Greenspace will assist us to continue the fast pace of development for MicroGel and other horticultural products using the Company's Biollose technology. With the forthcoming completion of our pilot production run for MicroGel with our manufacturing partner Hainan Guangyu Biotechnology (HGB), we look forward to providing more updates on Greenspace's trials and subsequent commercial uptake."

Greenspace's CEO, Mr. Peter Fox, said: "The opportunity to partner with Nanollose to further reduce food waste and packaging for our nutrient-rich produce offering is incredibly exciting for me and everyone at Greenspace. Our core goal is to disrupt existing food supply chains through the creation of Community Vertical Farms in major population centers. Confirmation of a successful trial of the MicroGel promises to unlock a genuine revolution for the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) industry. We look forward to deepening this new relationship between two of the most exciting Australian agritech companies, both in domestic markets and internationally."
