Vital Farms (Nasdaq: VITL), a prominent national egg brand, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first to earn a Regenified™ verification for its Restorative Eggs. This third-party verification recognizes the company’s commitment to regenerative farming practices that enhance soil health and increase the land’s resilience to environmental challenges such as floods and droughts.

Vital Farms’ Commitment to Regenerative Farming

Vital Farms launched Restorative Eggs in 2022 after a two-year collaboration with four farms and industry experts to explore and implement the full benefits of regenerative agriculture. The product quickly gained popularity, cracking the top 10 egg SKUs at Whole Foods Market and growing 23% in dollar sales year-over-year.

Earlier this year, Vital Farms pledged to engage all the egg farms in its network in additional regenerative practices by 2026. This commitment includes providing training, educational resources, and funding opportunities to support soil health for the long term.

Nate King, Farm Support Advisor and Regenerative Agriculture Specialist at Vital Farms, emphasized the importance of regenerative farming to the company’s mission. He stated, “Regenerative farming is a natural and crucial extension of Vital Farms’ purpose to improve the lives of people, animals, and the planet through food.”

The Regenified™ Verification

Regenified™ is a regenerative agriculture verification organization that sets a gold standard for farming and ranching practices. The 6-3-4™ Verification Standard provides a consistent way for farmers and ranchers to measure and understand their progress on the regenerative path.

The Regenified™ certification requires adherence to rigorous standards, including the Six Principles of Soil Health, Three Rules of Adaptive Stewardship, and Four Ecosystem Processes. It recognizes organizations, farms, and ranches that are advancing regenerative principles to enhance biodiversity, soil health, water quality, nutrient density, and produce high-quality products.

Salar Shemirani, CEO of Regenified™, applauded Vital Farms for their dedication to environmental stewardship and regenerative agriculture practices. He expressed pleasure in recognizing Restorative Eggs as certified Regenified™.

Impact on Farmers

Farmers working with Vital Farms have also noticed the positive impact of regenerative farming practices. Jonathan Mast, a Restorative Eggs farmer, shared his experience, saying, “The impact of regenerative farming is visible on my farm. Adding more animals and cover crops on my pasture has opened the way for healthier soil.”
