Growing Greener Cities : Online exhibition – Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture as Green Infrastructure: Implications on Well-being and Sustainability in The Global South

The team has put together an online exhibition on ‘Growing Greener Cities’ that compiles a series of photographic essays, short notes, life histories, videos, and infographics around urban agriculture (UA) practices across India and Tanzania. The narratives are organised in the form of 6 virtual rooms – Greener Cities, Healthier and Happier Citizens, Food and Nutritional Diets, Men and Women Nurturing Edible Cities, Labour and Incomes, and Space – providing personal insights into the lives of urbanites and farmers practicing a range of UA methods – from backyard gardening to balcony and rooftop growing, to low-tech farms and peri-urban commercial food cultivation. The exhibition aims to appeal to a wider audience, addresses the opportunities and challenges of UA, and touches upon its different human well-being and environmental sustainability outcomes.
