Global food technology firm, It’s Fresh!, has announced a successful investment round worth £6.7 million led by BGF and Zintinus, a German VC fund, alongside existing investor Praesidium. It’s Fresh! is a company that aims to reduce food waste by extending the shelf life of fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the food supply chain, ultimately improving the quality of produce for consumers. With fresh produce contributing to 40-50% of global food waste, It’s Fresh! Helps to control the rate of ripening and, in turn, enhances the quality of the produce.
The company’s patented technology controls the impact of ethylene emitted by fresh produce, ensuring safer produce is more available and affordable for growers, distributors, retailers, and consumers. In addition, with its significant traction across its core markets in the USA, South America, and Southern Africa, the combined investment will enable the company to expand into new markets and develop innovations, such as using its technology within transformed air packaging bags.
“Our cutting-edge technology rises to the challenge of reducing food waste throughout the supply chain.” We not only provide shelf-life extension, which saves waste, but we also enable our clients to provide maximum quality to their customers. We’ve already gained significant traction in our core markets of the United States, South America, and Southern Africa. This investment round comes at a critical juncture for the company, positioning us to scale quickly and fulfill our potential as global leaders in innovative, fresh produce solutions.” It’s Fresh! CEO Rob Ward
BGF and Zintinus’ investment supports the company’s growth strategy and the business’s positive climate impact. The investment sets the company up for a substantial period of growth, and existing investors remain committed to helping It’s Fresh! Accomplish its goals. The company will leverage the investment to support its worldwide growth strategy and expand into new markets while developing solutions to reduce food waste. It’s Fresh! It is committed to reducing food waste globally while making fresh produce available, affordable, and sustainable.
