Alternative Protein in Capitol Hill

On Tuesday, April 25, experts in the alternative protein space will assemble in Washington, D.C., to discuss the state of the cell-cultured/cultivated industry and its implications for the future of food in the United States. The event, sponsored by cell-cultured tuna company Finless Foods, marks the first occasion since the pandemic that experts in the cell-cultured/cultivated sector will gather on Capitol Hill to address critical policies and programs to ensure the U.S. maintains its leadership in developing a secure, safe, and sustainable food system.

The panel discussion will feature experts from the alternative protein space, including Jessica Almy, Vice President of Policy at The Good Food Institute; Andrew Noyes, Vice President of Global Communications and Public Affairs at GOOD Meat; Shannon Cosentino-Roush, Chief Strategy Officer for Finless Foods; and Alex Smith, Senior Food and Agriculture Analyst with the Breakthrough Institute. The hour-long conversation, moderated by Industry Dive’s senior reporter Megan Poinski, will cover existing barriers, international efforts, and the steps the U.S. can take to foster growth in the industry.

The event is open to the public in the U.S. Capitol Building room HC-5 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, with lunch available on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are required to register in advance. Click here for more information.
