FOOD security in urban areas is one of the issues that PKR advisor Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be championing in Bandar Tun Razak.

The incumbent Pandan MP, who has been named as a candidate for Bandar Tun Razak for the coming 15th General Election (GE15), said there was a need to encourage more community farming in urban areas for food security.

“Although it is not a new concept, the movement control order that was implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic showed us that there is a need for community farming in urban areas.

“Hence, I will promote my ‘Kebun Kak Wan’ concept, which is a community farm, to Malaysians.

“We also need to equip residents with the skills for urban farming,” she said after handing 50 bags of fertilisers to Seri Sabah Public Housing (PA) residents.

The former deputy prime minister was also spotted in Bandar Tun Razak constituency during a walkabout at Alam Damai morning market greeting the people.

When asked how she felt about a possible clash with incumbent Bandar Tun Razak Datuk Kamarudin Jaafar in GE15, she diverted the question back to Kamarudin.

“You should ask him how he felt when he left us after all the years together,” she said.
