New cookbook by Kingston NY teens illuminates work of The Farm Project

Excerpt:

“Before I started working here, I would definitely stay inside all the time. Never active, just being a slob,” says the soft-spoken teen. He reluctantly began working at the farm when his parents insisted that he get a summer job and discovered he enjoyed the work and community he’s found. He eats more healthfully now, too, he says.

“I never had any garden experiences because I’d never had the opportunity to, plus I live in an apartment and the landlord doesn’t really allow that,” adds Rios. “Reconnecting with nature and figuring out where your food comes from makes you realize the quality of food. Kale right here tastes better than store-bought stuff.”
