2021 held many challenges, changes and excitement but also many happy moments, fun and success. Overall, we can look back on a great year that makes us look forward to continuing our journey.
The Organifarms Team
This year, we had some changes in our team with some team members leaving us and new ones joining. Like everyone else, we were not able to have as many in-person events as we would have liked but we enjoyed team building, hiking and sitting in the sun by the lake.
We want to thank everyone for their great work and effort. Together we were able to achieve a lot and we had lots of fun doing it!
Technological Development
We also came very far with our technological development. We were able to implement the ripeness estimation, through which our software can detect the exact degree of ripeness of each fruit. Further, we went from testing in our laboratory to running trials with growers in our region. We also got to present BERRY our automated harvesting robot for strawberries to the public. We are looking forward to our first live presentation next year!
Awards and Prizes
In 2021, we were able to celebrate great success, starting with winning the ifok.innovationspreis in March. In July we made 1st place at the AgTech and FoodTech Bootcamp of the Rentenbank and TechQuartier. In September we were chosen as "Agribusiness of the Year" by the Future Agro Challenge Germany and had the honor of being awarded the "Innovationspreis Moderne Landwirtschaft". In November we succeeded at the Sustainable Cup Bodensee, through which we qualified ourselves for the state final of the Start-up BW Elevator Pitch. We are super grateful and honored!
Company Development
A great step for us this year was also the incorporation of Organifarms as a limited liability company (GmbH). Furthermore, we moved into our new offices at the farm Konstanz, where we have the space to finalize our product and grow our team. We were able to secure our first funding through the Start-up BW Pre-Seed program of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
Also, we were chosen as a finalist of the Mass Challenge Switzerland, where we got to participate in workshops, meet investors and corporates and exchange ideas.
