‘Busy in The Battery’ in New York City

An urban farm in The Battery and BeeVillage helping to pollinate the plants

A film by Sonny DePasquale

New York City doesn’t usually bring “farms” to mind. However, within The Battery, a New York City park, an urban farm is bustling with staff and volunteers who tend to the land and harvest its crops. But there’s another “hidden helper” buzzing around… Bees! The neighboring BeeVillage helps to pollinate the urban farm, reflecting in a higher yield of crops. This produce is then donated for food relief in the community, a mission that grew in demand with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Emergent Productions is named after the highest layer of the rainforest to symbolize the conservation heroes watching over us.

“Our goal is to build a library of conservation media that inspires and educates, while also highlighting the incredible work of dedicated individuals and organizations.”
