UK: Neighbours transform rundown bin alley into community garden with its own mini bar

Each group has focused on their own patch of the alley, planting plants and wild flowers in up-cycled tyres and installing an outdoor bar.

Jill added: “This year being in lockdown so many more people have got involved.

“It’s brought the community together.

“People could come out and social distance and get on with their own project, but come out and not feel isolated.”

From fish and chip Fridays to a Macmillion coffee morning, Jill said the alleyway has become a great space for the community called Shamrock Community Gardens.

The alleyway looks unrecognisable in before and after photos, strewn with bunting and fairy lights.

In one corner of the alleyway wooden pallets have been stacked on top of each other to create a wooden bench with cushions.

While in another area an old chair has been repurposed with flowers growing through the middle and signs and chalk boards hand from the walls.
